There's a Dan's just down the street in Buda.

Also, might try Jim's at I-35 and Ben White Blvd. Ooops....that's right, they tore it down but there's still one at the Y in Oak Hill.

And, you might even try The Bakehouse on Manchaca north of Stassney? Haven't been there in a loooong time.

I was also going to suggest Jim's in Oak Hill. Don't know the menu extensively, but I think it sounds like something they would have.

I had my chicken-fried steak and eggs breakfast on Saturday at the Waterloo Ice House in Southpark Meadows. Very tasty. The batter was great, but the beef itself didn't quite measure up to the batter, in my opinion. It was good, but not as good as the batter. Delicious biscuits and hash brown, and the gravy (which can make or break this meal) was really, really delicious! All and all, it was a very good breakfast.

I'll be heading out to the other suggestions soon, too. Thanks again!

Tried the Waterloo Ice House also and I pretty much agree with Paulmmm's conclusions, although CFS meat is typically pretty cheap round/cube steak which is what that seemed to be. I didn't have a problem with it and it was a wonderfully delicious breakfast. Not a perfect crust (I like mine crispier and golden flaky) but it was pretty dang good and I'd highly recommend it.

Yes, Jim's has Chicken Fried Steak with Eggs breakfast for only $8.29.

Jim's Restaurants Menu

This is the same CFS that they serve for dinner which is described as: Chicken Fried Steak
Signature Item! Hand-battered Steak, cooked to perfection, with Cream or Brown Gravy, served with fresh mashed potatoes, Vegetable and Texas Toast 8.29

We often go to the Jim's at the Y in Oak Hill when we want a traditional breakfast. I will try the CFS next time.

If you're willing to drive a bit, the Monument Cafe in Georgetown has chicken fried steak and eggs for breakfast. I haven't had it for breakfast, but their CFS is pretty darned good at lunch and dinner.
