It's a beautiful park, first of all. However, walking around the lake we noticed these green netting things laying around all over the place. Big gobs of them. That cannot be good for the wildlife in the lake. The best way to describe it is it's like the net bag onions come in. Doesn't seem very biodegradable but I'm no expert on that kind of thing.

The netting is from what? So many of them laying around. Ugh. I'm thinking we might just go with a garbage bag to pick them up but I want to know if it's something that is suppose to be there, (we don't want to get into trouble).

I think that that netting is supposed to be there to help prevent erosion. Plants and grass usually grow over it...they won't leave it bare like that for long.

The netting isn't doing erosion control. It's on the ground, blowing around in the wind landing in the water. There are gobs of them. But thank you for telling me what they are suppose to be used for.

Personally, I think that is a lousy choice for erosion control. Is that the standard? Those things are as bad or worse than the plastic bags, and the plastic that is wrapped around a six pack of pop.

Call the Round Rock Parks and Rec department and let them know what you saw: 512-218-5540, City of Round Rock - Parks and Trails

Here's a thought...why don't you contact the Parks Department in Round Rock and ask them to check it out. Seems like a more productive solution than complaining about it online. Here's their phone number: 512-218-5540.

If they are erosion control nets, they are extremely biodegradable and will be gone very soon. They shouldn't, however, be blowing around if thats what they are, unless they were vandalized or there was some sort of other issue.

Without seeing them, I can't tell you what they actually are or are not.

Yeah, guess I'll 2nd the others. Usually erosion net isn't blowing around all over the place. Just call the number posted...they're pretty good about cleaning stuff up out there.

I was checking it out here and seeing if someone already knew what the heck it was before moving to the next step.
