Looks like and feels like a very large suburb in the sunbelt, with lots of shopping....

It is a great place to raise a family. No night life but the schools are great and there are lots of parks. It is a suburb bedroom community for Austin and Round Rock.

What kind of info do you want?

Not rural, but suburban. Like Woodinville describes. Not a huge amount of employers, but lots of shopping and restaurants. Pinned in by suburbs of Leander, Round Rock, Lake Travis area (unincorporated Travis County), and Austin. That's actually a good thing IMO, it's gonna be completely built out with no available land soon and resale value should benefit from that.

It's also the closest of the "highway" suburbs to the Lake.

Suburb. We saw a house out that way but it had a HOA that required waaay too much money. Besides, we didn't want to live in an HOA neighborhood so that was the deal breaker. It's near a toll road if that matters to you.

My sister lives in CP and loves it. She lives in one of those newer neighborhoods off of 1431 and her HOA is only $25 a month. Very family-oriented neighborhood.

Cedar Park was originally (as most of the places surrounding Austin that folks call "suburbs") a community in its own right. It was where folks could live on a few acres but still be within a somewhat reasonable commute to Austin. Now, there are places where Austin/Cedar Park/Round Rock kind of flow into each other and you can't tell where you actually are without a map. Also, a lot of subdivisions have sprung up over the past few years out there, thus giving rise to the "suburb" tag, but it really is its own community.

There are some lovely neighborhoods there, good schools, and lots of people, families and otherwise, live there. There are older homes and newer subdivisions, and where you live (and whether you have an HOA) depends on your preferences, of course. There's also still some rural parts if that's what you're seeking, but nowhere near as many as there used to be - you generally have to move out a bit further in that direction for that.
