Hi Forum,

How bad is the morning commute from N.Austin to Woodward St,Austin?
I have a job offer and wanted to know what would be daily commute like?

Is Carpool an option?

Thank you so much!

I did this exact commute for about 3 months. It is not great. I took mopac south to cesar chavez and then over to 35. It took 30 minutes going at 7am on a good day. Going home around 5-6 usually took 45-1hr.

I avoided I-35 at all costs.

I don't know, I think that I-35 is pretty easy in the mornings! Where is your starting point? Exactly how far north you are will be the issue. The road is full but rolling until 51st street when it opens up a bit, usually once you are past 15th street you can coast along.

I-35 in the afternoon is another story! Traffic is heavy and sloow! I use back roads in the afternoon.

But you'll find me on I-35 every morning at 8 am!

Humm . . . so about 15 miles.

It is doable and you have many alternative routes, (I 35, 183 to 1-35, Mopac, plus many smaller roads).
I think that the morning commute would be fine, probably 30 minutes or a bit less, but the evening drive would be slow and long. 45 minutes to an hour.

I've seen worse commutes.
