The chocolate isle was packed however and everyone was laughing saying "if we're going down, we need some chocolate!"

One of my only funny memories of that day.

You guys are so funny. I live in Wisconsin. Just getting an inch of snow is a blessing. Once winter starts, we can't get rid of our snow. I can't wait to move to Texas. I definitely will not miss the snow....trust me.

There were tons of people yesterday where I work, clamoring to get outside or near a window to see the tiny white particles flying around. As a former Northerner, I found it sweet and quaint. I actually was happy to see a little snow.

But even happier today to continue with my winter gardening projects

Austin must be the laughing stock of northerners when it comes to how we react to real winter weather. But I guess it comes down to whatever is rare and unusual.

We were in Ruidoso NM about 5 winters ago the day after Christmas, eating at a restaurant, when suddenly a kid in the next booth yelled "look, it's a deer!!", and the entire family all clamored up to the window, pressing against it to get a look at two deer walking through some trees. They were ooing and ahhing, saying "wow! look at them"

We don't know where they were from but they must never see deer. My wife and kids and I looked at each other with strange faces, trying not to burst into laughter, amused by the wonderment these people found in sighting a deer.

We see deer EVERY day, every time I drive in and out of my neighborhood. But snow is once evey 5 years if we're lucky, so I guess Austinites deserve a little slack, but it's still funny to see. At our daughters basketball game last night there was a lot of rye, sarcastic humor being exchanged about "braving the blizzard" to get there.

Steve

Steve...I'm a northerner, and I'm not laughing at you all. Ok. Maybe I'm laughing a little..but it's not a cruel laugh. I just found it to be so funny about how the stores were packed, because you all expected an inch or more of snow.

We don't get that way until they start talking about a foot or more. Believe it or not, a foot of snow does not shut down businesses or schools. We have to go out in the snow and adjust to the weather.

Right now, it's a miserable 28 degrees with a dusting of snow. We wish we had your weather now. I can't wait for my first Texas winter.

It's almost as funny as hearing about a 90* 'heatwave' up east.
