In Texas you will find a wide range of sex offenders registered including the 17-18 year old guy that "raped" his 16 year old girlfriend. You can pull up registered sex offenders in Texas and get their address, picture, year crime took place, type of attack, age and sex of victim. When I see the male teen and the female teen I have to wonder if it really was an attack. The girls nowadays are not so innocent and this is coming from a mother of girls. The girls parents may find out they had sex and she may get out of getting in trouble at home by saying it was forced upon her and her parents may file charges. How it gets handled from there is anyones guess. Now when I see an older male and much younger victims then I pay close attention.

Austin sits pretty good as far as Capitals go.

The Capital of California (Sacramento) is about 280:1

The Capital of Washington (Olympia) is about 193:1
Sounds like the sex offenders are mostly politicians

What I would like to know is why so many parents put stickers on the back of their cars, advertising where their children go to school, what sports they're in, what their names are and what number they are .....

why not just get all those addresses of sex offenders and send an invitation to the molesters to come on over and get your kid!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think those stickers are the stupidest thing--- they totally irritate me!!!

This is a pet peeve of mine too and I don't even have kids. I also can't stand those signs people put in front of their homes advertising their kid's name and who he/she plays sports for.

There was big news story several months ago here in Dallas about this very thing. I've noticed that the yard signs are not as popular now. Oh, and in youth sports you are NOT to have the childs name (first or last) anywhere on their uniform but I've seen teams that do such. STUPID! Some leagues actually dictate that it is not allowed so that is good. If your going to have a sticker for your childs sports team let it just be like a ball (softball, soccerball, football, etc) and the team name w/o any numbers or names. Then no one has any idea of what city/town your kid even plays in nor their name and number.

If someone really wants to find out about your kid, they'll find another way. But I wouldn't call someone Stupid for being proud of their kids accomplishments. Ignorance would be a better description. I don't think I'm stupid for having a sticker from my daughters activity, although I haven't stuck it to any windows, since I had the same thought. They can always be put in a scrapbook or something. As a parent, I agree with the above sentiments, but we can also become too overboard with some things.

No problem I know how loaded this subject is.

I do wonder about the correlation to State Capitals though...

What about proximity to State Penitentiaries?

Great info evlevo. It seems that there is some gray area involving the label of "sex offender" and who has to carry that title.
