I've been hearing a lot of Red Hot Chili Peppers. Don't get me wrong - I love 'em ... but on KGSR? Every day? Errrrrr no.

I use to really like them when I was a skater punk kid in the 80's. The problem is they're playing the 90's "under the bridge" crap...along with too much REM and the like. really wtf? "Pretty little Ditty" and "Breaking the Girl" were good though. only songs of theirs from the 90's that deserve merit.

I noticed the change on KGSR over Thanksgiving, which I think is right after Jody left. When we heard a tired old Pink Floyd song followed by a Depeche Mode track, the wife and I both looked at one another then the radio to see if it was, in fact, set to KGSR. Sadly, it was.

How can we get this message to Emmis? I doubt that they're reading this forum.

There's also a Facebook page: Login | Facebook

I honestly don't know how long fans of the old KGSR can last, though. How long will people who are into Carolyn Wonderland and Robert Earl Keen suffer through Sugar Ray and the Goo Goo Dolls before they change their radio presets?

I never liked KGSR anyway.
Why listen to commercial radio?
I've been listening to KOOP alot lately and think they are great!

With 4 public radio stations in town, along with commercial stations like KLBJ and KGSR, I don't feel the sting of KGSR's changes so much. Just keep pushing buttons until you find a station playing what you like. If all else fails, check out Jeff Ward's AM talk show during afternoon commute time, he's pretty funny.

For those who don't know about all 4 public stations, just explore the bottom of the FM dial. This is true wherever you go in the USA, the public stations are at the lowest frequencies (87 to 93 or so.)

It just makes me sad. It's really unlistenable now. I can't believe how generic it is. I used to do the same thing as an earlier poster - when guests came to town I would turn on KGSR so they could hear what Texas sounds like. Not anymore!

KGSR's signal is much better for me now and I totally enjoy the station!

Emmis shot itself in the foot when it moved frequencies from 107.1 to 93.3. And if that wasn't bad enough, changing the format will almost certainly put the nail in the coffin. KGSR will probably end up as a station in the internet, but I could easily see 93.3 be Spanish in the not too distant future.
