Been driving by this for a few months and can't find out what it is...looks to be a holding tank(quite large) of some sort but doesn't resemble the other water tanks in the area(looks more like a petro tank from a tank farm).

The location is just west of MoPac, north of Wells Branch. The one driveway I found is posted, of course; but looks like it doesn't get regular traffic of any sort. It's too big to ignore and visitors have asked about it. Anyone know? Thx.

wells branch, austin tx - Google Maps

If you zoom in, it's where Shoreline Dr. crosses the 'Mo'...north/west of Wells Branch.

I'm thinking that someone said it was a water tank.

I can't find what you are referring to based on your link above. It puts me into someone's back yard.

It looks like a deer blind.

Sorry...if you zoom in two clicks and move north on MoPac, it's just left(west) of where Shoreline intersects the Mo'.

The deer would have to be blind not to spot it. Beige with tan trim...could certainly hold a few tennis courts...looks like a large empty field to the south/west of it.

10scoachrick, I've been wondering what this tower is too. So far, all I can find out about it is that it sits right at the border between Travis and Williamson Counties and the land is owned by the City of Austin since 1985. Since it's city-owned, I'm also thinking that it's a water storage tank.

That would be reasonable...it's large enough to hold a few of the other water towers in the area, it appears.
