Forget LCD and the psuedo 'LED' TVs. For that size, plasma is the way to go. And for plasma, Panasonic is the way to go.

Panny plasma. Done deal.

I agree on the plasma front. Panasonic G25 series is the way to go in that price range.

Thanks.

I got the below specs.

"Panasonic VIERA 50" G25 Series Plasma Black Flat Panel HDTV - TCP50G25/ 1080p Full HD (1920 x 1080) Resolution/ Infinite Black 5,000,000:1 Native Contrast Ratio/ Skype Ready/ THX Certified Display/ 600Hz Sub-Field Drive/ 24p Playback/ AR (Anti-Reflective) Filter/ Game Mode/ USB/ 100,000 Hour Panel Life/ Built-In ATSC/QAM/NTSC Tuners/ Black Finish"

Is the 600Hz Sub-Field Drive good enough? All the LCDs/LEDS are more than 120 Hz and 240 Hz.

Thanks
Aadil

I wouldn't run out and buy a Panasonic plasma until the black-level performance degradation issues have been confirmed as fixed or at least improved on the 2010 models.

Tests point to extent of loss in Panasonic plasma black-level performance | Crave - CNET

If you already have a TV, then I would wait a month or so to see if something like the Samsung UN55B6000 55" LED drops down into your price range. It's currently selling for $1890 to your door on Amazon.com (free shipping and no tax), but it was $1600 a couple weeks back on Amazon.

If you need something today, I would make sure that a good quality 46" isn't a good option for the size of your room. Then you could fit a sound system in a box to go along with it into your budget. You won't get "very good" sound quality out of any of the LCD/LED/Plasma TVs in my opinion. As big TVs have been getting cheaper and cheaper, people often buy TVs that are much too large for the size of the room.

This is the wrong forum for that type of question. Go to amazon search for your criteria and select the one that has the most and highest reviews. The few standout products are obvious as they have hundreds if not thousands of reviews.
