Are there any fishing docks on the lakes of Austin? I'm from Houston, and I plan to take my girlfriend to Austin for a celebration of our anniversary.

Any suggestions? I was thinking of something like this:http://www.floridastateparks.org/faver-dykes/images/FAD-FishingDock2-park.jpg (broken link)

Not much good fishing around Austin unless you have a bass boat. And the water levels are so low on the highland lakes there are few places you can put a boat in if its not already on the water. But there are some romantic docks and places for celebrating your anniversary.

Hula Hut - Lake Austin - Austin, Texas has dining on the docks built out over the water.

The OASIS Restaurant- Sunset Capital of Texas The Oasis has great views out over Lake Travis from high on a bluff above the lake.

Both are reasonably priced.

East of I35 there are a few docks/bridges that people fish off of on Ladybird Lake. I'm not sure what they are called, but I run by them all the time. Also a lot of people on fishing kayaks. Might try Lake Austin too.

If your girlfriend wants to go fishing for her anniversary (which I doubt) you should take her to Port Aransas or Rockport.

The Jetties at Port Aransas. Lots of people fish from these jetties.

Lake Pflugerville has some dock-like structures..they don't go far out into the water like a pier but I've driven past and seen people fishing from them.

Atxcio - Do you have the crossroads for this location? They are docks and not bridges right?

Thanks for the recommendation CptnRn, but I want to be in Austin for this. I'm not fishing, I'm proposing actually.

Yes it was built a few years ago. One side is a public park and the other has a subdivision butting up against it.
