Time we in NZ dropped the top immigration age down to forty ?
When I hear of immigrants getting in at the age of fifty five I wonder what is the point of letting people in who will only work for ten years in this country before most of them at that age retire.
My view, make it forty with only exceptions for people above that age whose skills we cannot find in the young.

Oz lets in people at 44; I think that's fair.
Cutting it back to 40 would be unfair, imho.

The points system is a bit contradictory, imho.
(unless they don't really want immigrants, but are being nice to the few who pass their tests )

They award highest points for people 29 and younger,
yet insist on 5+ years "related experience" making it obviously harder to find people under 30.
And the bulk of the workforce in places like Canada that does have 5+ years related experience
is already too old for Oz's 44-or-under skilled visa programme.

I think I saw Oz's point system and visa categories years ago and dismissed it, then forgot about it,
because at the time I didn't have that much experience or extra money in the bank.
