I am really surprised with this years ranking. Melbourne is always around the top, i was curious as to what happened for it drop so bad , but then i realized i was used to look at a different list.

yep, those are different rankings which differ one another each year (and they are overly anglocentric)

they are interesting, but I trust much more numbeo's rankings which are generated by the people for the people: Quality of Life Index Rate Current

Yes. That's why Melbourne wins these things. They're designed for HR departments so they can give expat workers the same lifestyle they would have in their own country. That's also why their "most expensive cities in the world" includes some odd choices like Port Harcourt and Caracas, because in those towns employees need 24 hour personal protection and have to live in expensive gated communities.
