Just wondering because I read so many forums on the topic of whether it is better to live in Australia or New Zealand and someone said that the kiwis are more impoverished than Aussies, I want to know whether that is true or not? can someone let me know whether it is true or not?
I know several years ago that a large number of kiwis were going to Australia to live and work with the main reason being more money so they had a much higher quality of life there. New Zealand is one of the few western countries where unions have very little influence and this is mainly the reason for such inequality at times. In recent years especially since the Christchurch earthquake migration to New Zealand has exploded to it's highest levels and due to growth in the economy wages are increasing and for the first time in many years more people are coming back to New Zealand than leaving as the quality of living is starting to even out. Sure wages in Australia are higher but so is the cost of living and price of houses. Overall i think financially someone would still be better off in Australia but the gap is quite minimal and if someone is quite well off in New Zealand then there is no reason to go to Australia other than the experience
