Theyey exist of course, but most are visitors, and not actually residents of byron bay. The median age of your typical Byron resident is well above the national average.

I don't think you'd like it troubes. It's moved well away from its hippie culture to being an extension of Bondi Beach on the north coast.

BTW, it's nice to have you back on here. Although I disagree with you on just about everything the place is pretty boring without you.

Sounds incredibly mundane. Much as I imagine it to be though. Without the ability to chill out with a few bongs shared with some cool dudes on a moonlit beach dancing semi naked, with similar attired international love inducing Hippie chicks, to the beat of trance music and mellow vibes it simply wouldn't be worth the effort.

Be better of in the Cote D 'Azure. Or Mykonos. Or Majorca. BB sounds like most everywhere else. Reruns of Inspector Morse on the box and lights out by nine PM. Aren't Stralia great? Especially good if needing to catch up on a lifetime of missed sleep.

You've caught the wake of the wash at least. Do my community service (if I may be so bold) by challenging entrenched orthodoxies so will not be everyone's (or perhaps anyone's) immediate flavour at first taste.

I was within cooee of requesting my removal of recent from this forum. I won't go into details as will more than likely incur more sanction .

The age of enlightment does not appear on the radar to be closing in anytime soon though.

I think Byron these days, is mostly just another beach town full of cashed up baby boomers than anything else. It might as well be Kingscliff or Hastings point, which are far less well known

Their are lots of more interesting places between here and Byron in my opinion, though I am not been much of a beach goer to start with, I prefer the mountains and National Parks.

Yeah I'm more into parks than beaches. I generally prefer the south coast of NSW over heading north. The beaches are beautiful and they're empty 95% of the year.

Byron sounds like the Hastings in Sussex minus the fun of the pier and real ale.

Surely Australia is one of the least interesting places on the globe for mountain lovers? Bit like Netherlands for mountain lovers, minus the ability to reach preferred landscape with greater ease in way of cost and distance .

Not liking the beach in Australia? Surely a bit like saying don't like to ride a bicycle in Netherlands or dislike culture and art in France or dislike drinking the finest beer in the world in Germany or dislike eating muscles and frites in Belgium .

Empty beaches are numerous in WA. I don't see any attraction. Like near empty parks and rural landscapes the lack of 'movement' the void, is to my mind something claustrophobia like inducing. But all to their own obviously.

I live in inner-Sydney. A few days of emptiness is nice.

Ha ha, well its good to see you have not changed in your absence, keep it up.

Or course Australia as a whole is not really good for Mountains, however that depends what you are into. Brisbane is surrounded by national parks consisting of low lying rain forest covered mountains, which weather you like it or not are actually just as popular as the beach and great for families, all of these are closer to Brisbane than Byron Bay.

This one is literally right on Brisbane's Door step, except to the north.

The view towards Brisbane from the same national park above.

The border ranges national park has some of the most ancient rainforest left in the world.

Or if you are intent on coastal views and prepare to fly in and undertake 2 weeks quarantine at your expense (the border is closed) you could take a look at the Sunshine Coast https://www.queenslandandbeyond.com/...oast-lookouts/
