Conservation officials in Australia announced they are seeking someone to take a full-time job living on a tropical island surrounded by the Great Barrier Reef.
Queensland's Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority announced it is seeking a caretaker for the "isolated tropical island" Low Isles, which is about 9 miles off the coast of Port Douglas, Queensland.

A bit of an advertising ploy by Visit QLD mob. I recall a English bloke getting the position a few years back and it went viral.
I think it is pretty much an annual thing these days, the hype did die down quite a bit after the
initial placement, however yes its a ploy to get people to visit the state.
Obviously its has been successful to some degree, if they are still doing it.
That actually doesn't sound like "paradise" to me. I don't doubt that the island is beautiful, but paradise to me also includes having my wants/desires/needs at my fingertips. I don't want to have to take a ferry 10 miles (and one that doesn't constantly run either) to get to a population center of sorts.
Still, I'd consider it if I was at a different point in my life.
That sounds like a perfect job to me. Too bad I would most likely not qualify. As someone who has been to Queensland before, I can certainly say with an adequate income, it would absolutely be paradise to me

At least you would be out of the way of feral dingo's and worse feral Banana Benders. As such mind, body and spirit just might be maintained. (for a bit longer, at least)
Of course Paradise comes at a cost(besides high prices) especially when the initial exuberating mood crosses paths with reality.

I'd take Hawaii myself. (over all FN QLD) TBH. But all an advertising ploy. It would get a bit samey after awhile.
There was a campaign by Hamilton Island in about 2008 which was unexpectedly successful. Because of the GFC there was the need to promote the region.
That must be the one I'm thinking about. The English fellow one it. I think from the English Midlands.(Brummie type)It was rather big news in UK , but even got mention across The Channel.
The publicity was worth a fortune. I can't see the same impact though in present times, with Australia locked down to tourism.
