How so? - a bit hard to imagine that these people would have no idea of the repercussions of their actions.
The thing about toning down advice given to a friend in a conflict with another party, is that message can be misconstrued as ""helping the other c***"
Perhaps some unintended irony in your comment regarding NZ's small economy?
The "advice" was absurd, worthless and just what China wanted him to do...
No unintended irony. I understand the relative size of all economies involved. But listening to the clown O'Connor would be akin to listening to some bloke from the Brisbane City Council. He has nothing to say worth listening to.
A great job just how exactly? It's been some time since Australia has had any thing close to a good job in the handling of china relations. From one extreme to the other. Australia is in no position to shine any light. In fact it needs to dig itself out of the hole it dug itself by allowing such an over dependence on China then snapping at the hand that feeds it.
Well we are shining a light, whether you like it or not. China doesn't like it either.

And they keep on buying our coal and iron ore...
Likes don't enter into the Argument. China is a nation that bides its time, I think you'll find. For now they consume. Watch this space. A flickering light at best .

Yep, advice to tone down can often be misconstrued as "helping the other ****"
Sure, but not in this scenario. The Kiwi was unwittingly doing the bidding of China, undoubtedly to their pleasure.
And Australia was as usual doing the bidding for America. They appear not to have noticed an election was looming in The States. Remind me. Deputy or full star sheriff. Can never keep up with latest status the Americans decide to classify Australia?

Did you give the Lambrusco a bit of a nudge tonight at that Italian restaurant troubes?

Obviously don't possess any historical recall. Although something far more substantial one could be excused for indulging, giving consideration of such remarks and the burden of informing those pleading ignorance on all matters of Australian global policy.

I can only assume that list of words formed a coherent thought/sentence in your mind. But it didn't translate well into the written word.

I can't quite work it out. Are you 'blinded by the light' that you wrote about or simply ignorant of world affairs? Or both?
