The SBS census explorer Is back to its former format, you can see every response the ABS recorded on it, their was 239 nominated countries of birth recorded, with more than 1000 migrants from 139 countries (Bolivia been the 139th) , and 429 Languages spoken of which 151 had more than a thousand speakers (Ngaanyatjarra, a western Australian Aboriginal Dialect) been the 151st. Makes for interesting reading for those interested.

Indeed. Love raking over stats . It should have been my profession. I seem to recall Toronto being termed the most diverse city in the world.

Toronto is for sure, it does not really have much competition for immigrants in canada, or on the scale of which Sydney and Melbourne compete for them at least.

I thought Vancouver was multi cultural but perhaps not as diverse as Toronto in variety. I seem to recall it being the largest Chinese ethnic population in Canada. I haven't checked that in most recent census though.

Vancouver is multicultural, I was thinking more in terms of absolute numbers, rather than ethic mix.

Hard to beat London though. Far more diverse ethnicity than most any other city on the planet. I can't think of one to top it.
