Danica Patrick is arguably the best looking female driver in NASCAR, that plus the fact that she has a big name sponsor is what keeps her in the headlines and the drivers seat.
She has said herself that she doesn't want to be just the best female driver, she want to be the best driver.
I don't even know if she is the best female driver in NASCAR, she certainly will never be the best driver.
Some of the best open wheel drivers never have much success in NASCAR and I suspect Danica will just become another one of them.
I like here and wish here success but I just don't believe she has the natural talent that it takes to be a front runner.
Put her in a road racing series with the old guys she might have better luck.
I really don't have a problem with Danica getting a ride because of bringing in sponsors and marketing herself. That's as old as racing. F1 lives on that stuff. It's what a racer is forced to do if they want to rise up the ranks and get to the top. The endless washed up nobodies in NASCAR are proof winning isn't necessary to have a ride, or keep a ride. So she isn't exactly keeping the next Jeff Gordon out of a seat. And if she brings in 3 extra press people to cover her, for whatever reason, it helps everyone. It won't last forever so why not get everything they can out of the novelty of a women in NASCAR, that looks okay.
She doesn’t have input on NASCAR rules and doesn’t feel that NASCAR changed a rule for the Sprint All-Star race just for her benefit.
Last year, the Sprint Fan Vote winner had to finish on the lead lap to advance to the all-star race. The previous two years, according to the rules announced in the drivers meeting for those races, the fan-vote winner just needed to have a car in raceable condition.
NASCAR announced in February that the rule would continue to require a lead-lap finish, and publicity materials for several years have stated that’s the case. But on Wednesday, NASCAR announced that no lead-lap finish would be required this year.

There was a Danica rule made up way back when she was just testing the champ car at Sebring having never won an Atlantic race AND the top 3 Atlantics were still faster than her in the Champ car during the test week. Something about sucking a golf ball through a straw her previous car owner told me.
