After seeing practice yesterday I have low expectations. Drivers were going so slow and many were complaining because they had to race on dirt. Then the announcers were talking about how once the rubber gets laid down they'll be able to go so much faster because they won't be sliding. That's the whole point of a dirt track!
I'll withhold judgement until the race is over. A few guys were getting around pretty good yesterday. The track is going to be dry and slick, it will still be different than asphalt. I like that they are using a typical weekly dirt track qualifying format with heat races and consolation race (B-Main). Should be interesting.
I liked it but I think NASCAR should allow them a larger tire. Most drivers said they were only
going 1/3 to 1/2 throttle.
Since these are dirt only trucks modifications could be made for bigger rubber.
Wasn't it Kenny Wallace who said that the issue with going fast was you would wreck out? I remember him talking about driving "like grandpa" would win you the race.
Sometimes, going slower makes you faster. That's especially true on the small dirt bullrings.
