Here's a sleeper few realize existed (among the tuner crowd). It's actually three different cars but with the same engine, the 3800 series supercharged engine. The Pontiac Bonneville and the Buick Park Avenue Ultra had this engine. I forget what model of Oldsmobile had the engine. The Buick is the real stop light sleeper. The Bonneville looks sporty but the Buick looks like grandma. But this grandma does 0-60 in about 7 seconds according to Motor Trend old issues, just don't ask it to take the corners hard. Though the Ultra has a stiffer suspension, it wasn't made so stiff as to no longer float a bit over the bumps. If you find one, check the oil and coolant cause it could have a leaking intake gasket, a common problem of GM V6 cars with Dexcool coolant. Get it replaced with the replacement kit and new torque specs. My mom's Olds Royale had the non-supercharged version of the engine and she left some kids at the stop light back in the late 90s. Dad had to keep reminding her to slow down. He still has to remind her to slow down with her 2007 Saturn Aura, another sleeper car in XR form.

these are good choices for a sleeper. if i were going to build one, another choice would be my 77 olds delta 88. drop in a gen three chevy small block from a camaro/corvette, bolt it to a 700r4 trans, and upgrade the suspension to W30 specs.
