To me that looks like a sandblast job from abrasive dirt or sand on the flaps of one of their rollers. Someone just ahead of you might have had a very dirty 4X4 and it didn't wash all the way out. Scratches happen all the time like that. Take a black vehicle through a car wash and see what happens sometimes. Those swirl scratches and or marks weren't there before. It happens and most car washes have a sign posted they are not liable for damage, enter at your own risk! Sorry man! I would still give the manger hell for it though!
I didn't mention the large amount of black specks all over the hood, trunk, and roof of my car. The vehicle they did before my car was a large four door black Silverado and now my car is covered in black specks.
Classic sun damage. It seemingly starts "all at once" but in reality the tiny checks have been growing in the paint for a long time already, when it starts to look like that. The waxing most likely uncovered what would have happened within a few months anyway. Plastic bumpers are usually the first to go. The rest of the vehicle may or may not follow in a short period of time.

What year is your car if I may ask? In the pic it looks too new to have sun-damage. I know, I know, a Honda or Toyota would never do that peeps!
2003 Chevrolet Malibu. Before this happened, people were shocked that the car was nearly 8 years old.
Well, since I know of '00 and '01 Buicks and Impalas that are silver and aren't sun damaged I would have to say that the car-wash had something to do with it. That looks like a rubbing to be. Especially in the location of the marks. That part of the roller would have hit the tires and rockers on the truck ahead. For all we know, he could have even had some gravel dust on it.
You know Dave, the more I look at that pic on the left in the far bottom left corner of your bumper........ that is a scratch for sure man. It's all the way in the bottom left corner of the bumper.
Does everybody see those horizontal scratches in the lower left corner of that bumper? It even looks cat or dog paw like. Some deeper and lighter than the others. That is a scratch for sure. The manager knows it and you do too. Will he do anything? That depends on what type of businessman he is. If I owned that car wash, I would make it right. The less than $1,000 bill is mild to what bad rep it could bring to me. That's just me though. But remember, I'm the dumba** with the closed mind! LOL
