I was getting groceries today and saw a white Chevy Malibu SS Coupe parked next to the cart corral. I would guess it was a 1964 or 1965, in original condition and was still in great shape with no rust or dents. I looked it over and saw the interior was still original and in good shape and saw some crocheted blankets( LOL) in it. It was just a beautiful car and was even better that it was still original. As I was leaving I saw two women getting into it, one in her 60s and one probably in her 80s. I hope they know what that car is worth and it was amazing that they might be using it as a daily driver.

Think about it, if they used it as a daily driver would it be that nice? Good for them, though, for actually taking it out on a shopping trip and enjoying it rather than keeping it locked away somewhere.

I'd guess it was worth at least several thousand to over 10 grand depending on the engine in it. If its still in that good condition and original its better off where it is, probably. It'd be a shame to have some yutz get hold of it and butcher it.

I would think those old ladies have to be approached many times about their car. It usally is the opposite. What I mean, an older person has a average old car, a basic mustang, cougar, whatever, they hear of the rare models bringing big money and now they think their basic middle of the road model is worth big bucks. About 20 years ago I use to buy older cars and enjoyed working on them. Like the cougar example above, I would clean it, add a few things like wheels, service it, tune it, drive it for a while and later sale it , hopefully for more money then I had into it. I can't seem to do that any more.

dont be so enamored of that year malibu ss as the ss package was just a trim package at that point. that car could have had the six and the powerglide automatic. i once owned a 64 ss malibu with the 283/powerglide combination.

Yep that's cuz most everyone is aware of how much classic cars are worth these days, thanks in part to such things as Barrett Jackson. Where you can see a nice restored example of a particular make/model of a car you happen to own, sitting in your yard, not drivable, rusting away...and when you see that restored example sell for mega bucks, you somehow believe your rusting non running hulk must be worth at least 3/4 as much.
