None of the above. For the price, I'd rather drive a 5 year old used midsize car (or some compacts), with some decent options, than a brand new cheapo subcompact car.

I've never heard of a Sonic before!?

I'd go with the Fiesta. It's been a top selling model in Europe for a long time.

Fiesta, it's a "German" Ford and has a good reputation in Europe.

That's the kind of "not what I asked" responses that keep me coming back.

Of the four choices, this one would be my pick also, and for the same reasons.

Consider a Focus Wagon (good economy and resale), otherwise I'd choose the Fiesta (and BE SURE to get EVERYTHING fixed while on Warranty. ) I would also look at a Yaris, I have rented several and found them pretty nice / economical (40mpg in mtns w/ auto & AC)

Of those choices, the Sonic. Especially with the turbo 4. Love the interior of them, and the turbo 4 is a great compbination of power and economy.

I really like the Sonic - the Fiesta and also the Rio - I would be trading in a 2001 Escape with 87k miles. I love my truck but am starting to have issues with it and want to trade it in before I have to fix the transmission. I have a daughter and she has a lot of stuff, so I didnt know if the Fiesta would be big enough. I also like the 2010 Focus - is that a good car? I can get a used one for under $14k from a local dealer and it is certified too.

IMO The Sonic and Fiesta are both nice. I recently drove a Sonic hatchback and it's a nice little car. Spartan of course but that's expected. And the Sonic is made in Michigan by my fellow countrymen, that counts, for me at least.

We've had several Focuses (Focii?) in my family and all have been reliable and given excellent service. My youngest daughter still drives the base model 2002 Focus I bought her 10 years ago. I just bought a new, 2012 Focus (it's been 10 YEARS already since I bought my baby her Focus?!?) and it's an amazing car, you might want to consider a base model Focus. Take one for a spin, you'll be impressed.
