I was looking at Craigslist for a used car and I came upon a post that seems too good to be true... But I'm naive and can't quite tell if it's a scam or not.
The car is a 2007 Lexus GS 350 AWD, with navigation, back-up camera, xenon lights, etc. The ad doesn't mention anything about mileage, but claims that it's in pristine condition with pictures to support the claim. It also mentions a readily available CARFAX report. But the kicker is that it's going for $9,500.

Please tell me this a complete scam....
Scam it's worth at least double that price. Move on.
Excellent
$30,825 Very Good
$30,025 Good
$29,225 Fair
$26,925
kbb.com
Now of course, you did not give the mileage, so I said 40,000 on kbb.com.
Not sure of my facts, other than what you had posted. I looked it up fully loaded with everything...
Maybe someone can look it up...
"But" is this person going to meet you in person or are they "out of the country?" if so, dead give away it's a SCAM.
"Usually a deal like this one is too good to be true....be careful."
Is it this nice?
Other than the mileage (because I have no idea what it is), this has to be the exact same car. Has all the same stuff, even down to the paint and interior.
I hadn't contacted the person. I thought it was too good to be true, so I wanted to check before I even thought of emailing them. But, it sounds like it's complete BS.
Shipping a vehicle to you is suggested by seller
eBay Motors or another intermediary is specified by seller
Payment by Western Union or a money wire is requested
Price is unusually low (fraction of blue book value)
Offers to ship a vehicle are virtually 100% fraudulent
eBay has no involvment in craigslist for sale ads, and any eBay or similar emails or web pages you receive are fake Never use Western Union or wire transfer to pay for goods - only a scammer will ask for this, and any funds sent will be lost
Do not buy vehicles sight-unseen, regardless of low price. The vehicle does not exist, and any money you send will be lost.
Stories about divorcees or departing servicemen needing to sell quickly at a low price are generally fraudulent
If a deal sounds too good to be true, it probably is!

Let me guess, it only has only an email address with no phone number. Go ahead and contact them and they will claim they want to use Ebay to buy the car. They will then send you a fake invoice from Ebay that will tell you to wire the money to the fake Ebay agent. Been done thousands of times, and unfortunately people still fall for it.
Post the VIN number here. Chances are it's being sold in every city because the car does not exist.
Not trying to be skeptical but ASK to speak on the phone.
If they balk and say they are out of the country, or they call you and have a foreign accent, caution...
