we've had an '11 Pilot with 4wd for over a year now and like it, which in effect runs as fwd until slippage occurs. Can get low 20's for average mpg which for what we use it for is acceptible. As it can deactivate the cylinders, it could possibly get slightly better average depending on other's driving habits, as the interstate speeds here are 70 which means one drives, uh, "70 ish" and that isnt the best for getting high mileage out of an suv lol. I cant speak for what the previous gen pilot is like but ours has plenty of room, comfort, power (can handle our boat as well), etc for what it is

You may not like it but a minivan might be the way to go. Odyssey or Siena would be the best two options.

There's also the Ford Flex/Lincoln MKT. Polarizing looks, but unbelievably comfortable, spacious and it's not a mini-van. Mercedes Benz R class and E class wagons also have three rows of seats.
