I wrecked and totaled my trusty 1996 Ford Bronco (I was broadsided, my big bronco may have saved my life ) I was fixed on an f150 4x4 ext cab used but they are diff to find as I prefer low miles (<120K) and <$15K.

Please suggest the best value truck that is affordable to match my needs:
I fish, hunt, kayak and camp. I have a 4-wheeler and sometimes haul firewood, tools, etc.
I do tow a small casita camper and have a jon boat and trailer.
I would like an extended cab for inside storage but not a supercab as it's just me now

PS: I have a car that is my daily driver.

Finding a low mileage full size truck for <$15k is tricky honestly.

I paid $16k for my 2006 F150 with 126k on it.

However... if you look around long enough you might find something. I bought my 2003 Crew Cab F150 XLT that I had before my current truck for $10k with 92k miles on it. Unfortunately that was during the time period where gas was $4 a gallon and people were dumping full sizes like the plague.... may be a little more difficult now.

try to find a 2000-2004 F150 "7700" series great bang for the buck can tow/haul almost as much as a similar year base F250 Super Duty and still insure it as a half-ton PU truck.

and some facts about the 250LD/F150 7700 - 7 Lug Rims -- They have a larger frame then the F150 - Bigger Brakes - 3:73 rear end from factory - 4R100 Tranny - Extra leaf in back - Larger Torsion bars - - Heavier towing capacity - Weigh more - - Larger rotors, I believe 13.5" - HD shocks- power steering cooler - 4700 lbs rear axle - HD rad, thicker- HD alternator - HD battery- LT tires standard, load range D- the tranny is the same as a F250 SD and the F350 SD - 8,600 lbs towing - 11,500 lbs GCVWR - 7,700 lbs payload

dont worry about mileage so much as condition. if you find a truck that is in good to excellent condition, but it has 150k on the clock, the reality is that the mileage doesnt mean anything.

I'd start with your local Craigslist and in the cars+trucks section, put in a keyword like F150, Sierra or Silverado.

Then sort the price from high to low and scroll down until you're in your price range. I see all kinds of trucks for under $15K and 100K miles.

Y'all got me thinking my truck is worth more. I have an '05 Sierra, Crew Cab with 51K miles and was thinking it was worth about $15K.

To give you an idea.... an 06 Sierra Crew cab (LS trim) with 144k miles is selling for $16.5k in our area and that is the cheapest I can find on Autotrader, and it's a private individual. The prices at the dealership are even higher. NADA says $15k is about right if it's a base model, but the market dictates more.

I'd stick with what you know. Ford trucks from the same generation as your Bronco (and the generation before it) are good vehicles. I've owned a few from the 87-91 era and have always been happy with them. Current one is a 91 F250 diesel with under 100K miles that I don't hesitate to drive anywhere.

Granted, finding a low miles one is tough, but not impossible. Lots of 'old man' trucks out there with low mileage, especially if you broaden your search to 3/4 or even 1-ton. If you're open to diesels, I'd open you mileage criteria to 150K or even 200K miles.

Here's the first truck I came on when looking at Sierra's under $15K in our area.

All the talk is about full sized trucks so I'm not so sure this is applicable. But last November I bought an '04 Ranger extended cab 4X4 with no rust and 112,000 for $6,500.

Just sayin' they're out there. Autotrader.
