I see a lot of car manufacturers doing away with 6cyl engines and instead opting for turbo 4's. My question is, how reliable are the turbo chargers on these new cars? Is it safe to assume that one would get 100k+ miles out of them?
No, it is not safe to assume. One of my coworkers had the turbo die in his early 2000s Volvo at 90,000 miles.
Look at when the manufacturer's warranty expires. That may give you a hint.
That is called common sense, something most engineers lack.
lol assuming something doing what it is designed to do is going to break is common sense?
