Actually... It's no conspiracy, it happens every single hurricane, every time at least the last dozen or so. Logistics were disrupted, and people are worried about fuel so everyone is hoarding.
In Florida people are so used to the gas stations usually get emptied before the storm. Also lots of stations widened up and got generators to run their pump(makes sense they have fuel to run it)
Worst one I ever had, I think was charley or Irene or Ivan, don't remember. There were lines, I got gas, was pulling out, someone cut in line immediately everyone rushed the station, blocking all exits, now the cars that were done are stuck, no one can pull in, no one can pull out, all there is an overworked stressed out gas station attendant, then a fight broke out. I was in a truck and said **** it, hopped a curb , drove over a little hedge and through a ditch and on my way.
My suggestion stay home as much as possible ration your supplies after about 5-7 days most services/traffic will be fine. Well at least it is in FL.

My friend from Florida was saying the same thing. Everyone over there has enough common sense to stock up on fuel & supplies before a hurricane hits. He's surprised that there's this mass scramble in NY-NJ for basics like food & fuel....
It would be easy to get gasoline from the underground tanks if they wanted to....They dont want to run the risk of losing money.....Farmers have portable fuel pumps that run off of their trucks battery all day long and certified safe....

Florida has gas station attendants. I thought NJ and Oregon were the only states with them?
RG--are u sure? since I filled up last Friday 10/26 Ive driven the car last Sunday, this past tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and today Friday. as of today Friday im still way above 3/4 of a tank
my next drive will be this coming Sunday Monday Tues, Wed and thursday. and i shop after work to avoid excess driving
Ah. My mistake. 40 miles round trip per week means 8 miles round trip per work day.
My suggestion: walk or bike. Even if you walk, it shouldn't take much more than an hour and 15 minutes each way. If you bike, depending upon your speed, it may be just as fast as driving.
i like to bike. unfortunately i am diabetic and there are PITA hills between where i live and work. often my glucose will drop during physical exertion and it's not a nice situation. the gas shouyld be back within a few days tho
