I barely remember the Apollo. In fact it wasn't until years later I saw my first one. They really jacked up the look of both the nose and the rear IMO. The Olds Omega looked a little better.
I saw my first Pontiac Ventura in 1985 or 86, and always thought the 1973-74 models looked a little better than the 1973-74 Nova, and definitely looked better than the 1973-74 Omega or Apollo.
1973 Omega:
1973 Omega rear:
1973 Ventura supposidly had 2 types of noses (not sure why)....
1973-74 looked like this...
And the rear on both pics above looked like this...
But one things for sure....you can't look at any of these cars and not realize it's nothing short of a Nova knock off...
cute how they take a Nova and push a Buick style on it. same with the Olds Omega
The Apollo,Ventura,Omega and Nova were all pretty much the same car late 60's through late 70s, although I think the Apollo and Omega were not around very long. The Nova was by far the most popular, and with the big V-8 was a real hot rod! I had a friend that had a mid 70s Ventura with the smaller V-6. It DRANK gasoline.....Probably too little engine trying to move a fairly large car.
The '73-'74 body styles didn't look bad at all but finding new aftermarket parts can be hard.
The only "hard" things to find are the specific parts to each car, like tail lamps, grilles, front bumpers, hoods, a few small interior pieces...emblems and such...
Otherwise the the glass is all the same, the dash is the same, the doors are the same, the seats are mostly the same (patterns might be a bit different), all of the suspension is the same...

They continued the Omega name I believe thru the 70's and up until 1980 when the X body went FWD. (sigh) Pontiac Ventura was renamed Phoenix for 1978.
Apollo was renamed Skylark sometime in the mid to late 70's...I know by 1977 the Buick X body was named the Skylark, even though the Skylark was previously on the A body (Chevelle) line.

My buddy had a 78 or so in High School. It had the 231 V6, really nice paint, and the trim option that gave it rally wheels, bucket seats, and center console. Overall, a really nice car.
Back in the day, GM ruled the USA in sales, all of those dealers sold a lot of cars, most just version of their sister cars, IE the Nove, Omega, Apollo, etc...
We had a lot of Ponitacs in our family back then. Our family bought a new car every year, replacing Moms one year, Dads the next. We were the middle class and I guess my folks could afford it....life was good ( I only wish I had it as good as my parent's seem too..)
So are all A bodies just GTO copies? All the X's to 1974 could be had with brand specific motors still. A GTO or GSX would be cool.
