Are car manufacturers aware that some of their models are literally blinding other drivers on the roads?

There are several sedans I cannot be behind at any distance because the sun reflects so badly on the back windshield that is blinding me to the point of having to pull over and allow someone else to pass me. others are pointing their side mirrors in such a way that the sun is reflected in my eyes directly!?

Are People AWARE of this at all?

Well there WAS a time when all cars had chrome everywhere, I think things were probably worse then.

I haven't had a problem with reflections recently- but I HAVE noticed that some cars have disturbingly bright red LED taillights.

Yes chrome could be pretty tough on the eyes in the bright sun but back then you didn't hear people complaining about being behind a new turquoise and white 1957 Chevy Belair 2-door harptop.

What you describe can only occur at a specific angle of the sun and following distance. If the car maker changed the angle of the glass so it didn't reflect in your eyes at 3 p.m. traveling south following at 100 ft. it would cause the same problem at a different time of day from a different distance. No way a car maker can eliminate this entirely unless the back window has a very odd angle or curvature.

Get yourself some polarized sunglasses and you probably won't have the problem.

agreed on good polarized sunglasses.

I'll add that with so many cars now with the hid's for headlights (esp aftermarket) that they can be just as blinding behind me. I adjust my side mirrors where it's not coming back in my eyes, though for those who are riding my bumper it may flash back at them. Sorry, i gotta worry about what i can and cant see, not too concerned if it's bright for someone too close for comfort.

just my .02

My car is tinted in all places but the windshield so I don't have a problem with bright lights, etc from the rear and generally never from the front either. Once or twice a week I drive my girlfriends untinted sedan and I've got to say even with all the hid's/led's on the road the most annoying vehicle to have shining their beam into my rear view mirror are trucks/SUV's whether equipped with halogen lighting or not. They never fail to shoot a bright blinding beam right into my rods and cones.
