Next time you see any AMG badged Mercedes, think of how bad the owner is going to get bent over when the car needs brakes: Replace brakes on all four corners is $6000 at the stealership, rotors alone are $1200 each!

Alignment: $400 (due to the active suspension)

Wheel Bearing: $1300 ($900 labor).

Absolutely laughable expecially when you factor in the massive depreciation they take in the first 24-36 months.....No wonder so many folks just buy the Bentley instead, ITS PROBABLY CHEAPER!

Not sure where you're getting these prices from ...

but there are a number of MB aftermarket importers bringing in OE parts at a fraction of these numbers.

Did you see that prices came from the local MB "stealership?"

If you can afford an AMG, then paying to keep it up shouldn't be a problem.

I was going to say that.

I paid about 1500 for new pads and rotors (installed) on my E55. The original set lasted 85,000 miles.

I hear this all the time and fail to understand the logic. There is no discrete, crossover point where all of a sudden someone can afford something “without problem”. There is an infinite range of incomes where some simply can’t afford, some can barely manage, others manage ok and very few that don’t even think twice about such expenses. With cars, like houses, many people spend beyond their means.

IIRC - AMG means Always More Gold.

There is no way replacing pads and rotors on any regular size car can cost $6,000.

If you're looking at a car that costs $70K+, all the way to almost $200K, odds are you'll be OK with the maintenance costs.

If you can't afford to maintain what you've bought, then you really can't afford it, can you?

Getting work done at the dealer is always going to be more expensive. But when you buy a Merc, it's a given.
