Today while driving on the highway, I got a crack on windshield as a rock hit on it. The crack is pretty long. I called up the insurance provider and my car dealer and both asked me to contact Safelite Auto and that I will have to pay out of my pocket. My insurance is not paying it for me.
Safelite quoted me $120 for fixing it (if smaller than a dollar bill) and $330 for replacement. The crack is definitely bigger than a dollar bill and hence will have to be replaced. If I do some more shopping, I might find someone local service provider who could fix it for less than that. Since I am new to this, I would like to know if $330 sounds reasonable.
I am owning a pre-certified 2012 Hyundai Elantra which I bought in Feb this year.
$330 for replacement is high but Safeco is always expensive and at the high end of the market. Search craigslist under automotive services. You should be able to find a replacement windshield for less than what Safeco quoted you.

I'm assuming you don't have comprehensive insurance coverage, right? That usually covers glass breakage.
I have comprehensive... $1000 deductible for both collision and comprehensive.
A high deductible for collision insurance is a good idea in order to save money, as long as you have a record of few accidents. In my case, I haven't been in an accident of any kind since 1970, so I have a $1,500 deductible on my collision insurance. In the very unlikely event of an accident, paying $1,500 isn't going to take food off my table.
However, my deductible for comprehensive (non-collision) insurance is $100. Because things like this are not under my control, it is much more likely that I will get a cracked windshield--rather than being involved in a collision--thus the very low deductible on my comprehensive coverage.
The quote they gave me doesn't include their visit... For them visiting my place I have to pay another $20.
I'd still call around. They're probably only charging you 20.00 cause they've padded the bill elsewhere like labor or cost of the glass. I had my windshield replaced with factory glass and it only cost me 180.00.
Even if your insurance company paid for it, that would not be a good deal. They will jack up your future rates to the point where it would have been better to pay for the windshield yourself.
