I need my exhaust system replaced pretty much front to back but not the catalytic converter? Any idea what parts prices may be like? For a Pontiac Sunfire by the way.

Why dont you call a few shops around you and see what they charge? Why dose the whole system need to be replaced? Are you going factory? Aftermarket? "Performace"? willing to use junk yard parts?

What exactly is wrong with the system? If you just have a hole in the muffler, it may even be possible to patch it (this is usually a temporary solution though) or just replace the muffler and maybe the tail pipe. *Usually* the first 3 or 4 feet of pipe stays hot enough that it does not rust much, and generally it last the life of the car.

Also - tell us at least the region you are in and your general plan for this car - as in, what kind of shape is the rest of the car in, how long to you expect to keep driving it? If you just want to get by a couple more years, it would not make that much sense to replace the whole exhaust system.

Check ebay for a piping kit. But like M3 Mitch mentioned you may be able to just patch it. It can usually be done for pretty cheap by any metal shop. My exhaust was from a Kteller kit and some of the welds cracked so it was rewelded and it's held up for 6+ years with no leaks.

Catback Exhaust installed.
Anywhere from $150 to $400 depending on what muffler.
Seek out the mom and pop customer exhaust shops
I say put a flowmaster exhaust on that thing
