Now the last thread I created about motorcycles filtering traffic got pretty heated. I return again with some questions I hope everyone can help me with a research project for one of my classes. I know the mods closed the last one but I hope this one stays open for at least a little while so I can gather some info.
1) Are you aware "lane splitting", "lane filtering", "lane sharing", or "white lining" is legal in California and Europe?
2) Do you or do you not approve?
3) Does it startle you?
4) Do you intentionally try to block it?
5) Do you move over?
6) Have you ever hit/caused harm to a rider or their bike while they were lane sharing?
I'm sure everyone will chime in with more opinions but I would greatly appreciate the answers to those above. Thanks in advance for any help.
Edit: Don't want to really turn this into a debate either so I wont post in this thread.

Around 30 years ago I was on the road behind a bunch of bikers riding 20 in a 35 in both lanes. With a thought I centered the line with my van and split traffic between 50 odd bikers. Stupid? probably, funny? definitely!
Yes, in CA.
Rarely happens where I live, but I don't mind. I don't move over, but I certainly don't try to endanger or police those who do it. That would be insane.
