Aircare and Vehicle Inspections along with Cash for Clunkers took most of the late 70's early 80's cars off the Roads up here in the PNW

Their engines were highly stressed, that's for sure. Which is probably one reason why not many are seen now.

The engines actually were fairly bullet proof and ate up miles with ease.

Same in California. For a while it was a $1000 for anything, running or not. Now it's dropped to about $600 last I heard.

But a lot of high revs is going to increase wear on an engine.

At 65 mph, my cars are just loafing.

Spoken like someone who knows absolutely Moderator cut: language about Datsuns.

I had a B210 That was great. My brother bought a 310 in the 70's . People thought he was nuts. Japanese cars didn't get a lot of respect and people thought they were not as good as American cars. I think there just wasn't as many of them bought as say a 78 caprice.

Rust, rust and rust. Datsuns used the thinnest sheet metal imaginable and the Japanese cars of that era weren't really made to last beyond the 2 to 3 years before the dreaded shaken inspection required a rebuild or scrap.

I still see lots of Datsuns, they just call them Nissan now... (Altima driving boss is never impressed when I call his car a Datsun...)

Mine (B210 Wagon) was not impressive (coming from a 70's Opel Sport wagon with Bosch Fuel Injection).

I had to run the Datsun pretty hard in the Mtns, I suppose they just 'wore out' and the saturation was not as great as other 70's & 80's cars. I still drive my 1976 - 1984 Rabbit Diesels and there are LOTS of those hanging around. (I have over 30 of them, and a friend has over 80 Diesel Rabbits). Most we get for free, sometimes less (check your neighbor's brier patch...) .
