The new Hyundais are fantastic products in the Genesis series. I don't own one but I have rented them at the airport and even the base model is 333 HP (sedan). They offer a lot of bang for the buck and are very capable cars.

I drove a 2011 Genesis coupe 2.0T today (they had sold the 3.8 I wanted to originally drive)

it sounds great and also had a custom intake but wasn't that much faster than my mazda 6 4 cylinder

I also have considered getting a brand new 2013 since they go for around $22-24k... and has 274hp compared to the 2011's 210, but that front end looks odd to me

Going to drive a G37 sport this weekend

Factory stock 2010-2012 2.0T's are fairly underpowered at only 200hp. My 2011 2.0T RSPEC is pushing 330whp (approx 390 crank) and a crap tone of torque with a fairly inexpensive 20G turbo build. She's still got some room to hit 350whp but I'm keeping things safe for stock internals. 2013 2.0T's are fairly brisk from the factory although the styling is a bit strange.

I liked my G35x, I could never buy a Hyundai.
I guess memory of my old Pony is still vivid, plus I don't like Hyundai cars style.
However, if you want true drivability buy a BMW.

I like my '07 530i too but the Genesis is the one I really enjoy driving. It's significantly better than my G35 in terms of performance and overall thrills.

The more recent Hyundai 2.0T implementations have a ton of potential because the Sonata, Optima and 2013+ Genesis Coupe are equipped with a twin scroll 19T turbocharger which is good for 315whp or roughly 370 crank hp horsepower from the factory 274hp. It's just madness that there are Sonata's and Optima's running around with that kind of output with very little work.

The guys on 'Everyday Driver' did a great comparison of these two cars along with an RX-8.

Just to mix it up a bit, if it were my money I wouldn't consider buying either car without first test driving the Scion FR-S.
