Saw a video of this. Think Hot Wheels, room temperature car is one color, pour cold water on the paint and it changes color. From a law enforcement stand point, I don't think this should be legal. From a realistic stand point, good luck color matching.

if you are going to make something like this illegal, then the mystic paint, flip flop pearls, metallics, and many other paints should then be made illegal. its just another fad that we must live with for a while until it is replaced by another fad.

What does this have to do with law enforcement?

Doesn't take a rocket scientist to understand why this could be a problem for law enforcement.
Suppose a bank was robbed, and the thief had a blue Toyota.
Police are on the lookout for this car.
Suddenly it starts to rain, and that blue Toyota they are searching for is now some other color.
Bob.

Still better than branding human skin.
OP, why care? You make it illegal, and it will become a forbidden, but so much sought fruit, and at 3 times the expense. Don't worry, fashions like this come and go. You should be more worried about cameras tracking every license plate on the road. From your so much beloved law enforcement perspective.

Most robbers would switch cars as soon as possible anyway. Seems like it would be a problem when people paint their car another color and don't notify the DMV, but no one seems to care about that. I had a white one that I painted blue and never notified anyone. When I got stopped for speeding the cop asked and I told him I painted it and that was the end of it.

GM and Ford already have sprayed some cars with a sort of chameleon color back in the 90's.

I've been working on an idea that would let you change the color from one end of the spectrum to the other, any time you like. Then they can just get rid of the box that says 'color'.

I dont really see what the big deal is when theres metallic paints and chameleon paints out there already that people can easily mistake the color of...

I know its a lot more of a difference if its a white base that turns red. I feel as though it would be really tough to maintain a 100% color change, unless its been dry or raining for a long time.
