If the "seals" in your engine are just built up sludge clogging the cracks and leaks, then yeah seafoam will cause your engine oil to leak, but that's because it was past its time anyways.

the chemical aisles of all parts stores are full of snake oils of various sizes, colors & prices. some of those products even work for a short time. the bottom line is, if your engine is full of sludge, "breaking it loose" sounds liks a good idea, but there will often be unintended consequences - those chunks of goo can clog the oil galleries & finish off a weak engine. and any engine that was abused to the point of building up deposits of sludge is already damaged from a lack of lubrication.
lots of people feel better buying snake oil - so the quantity of sales doesnt equal performance - if you dont believe that, just look at quack medical devices - they always have lots of good reviews (and no science behind them).
