because there are environmentalists who tend to be quite mental when it comes to the automobile. they dont want cars like they get in europe, they want bland, slow, poor handling econoboxes that are rather rubbish, because these people are bland soulless people who want everyone to be the same.
Europe is constantly emulating America with second rate vehicles twice as expensive, and half as fast. Our F350 will keep up with the turbocharged econobox with 4 times the weight, and god forbid will build anything to compete, because they'll lose.

The premise of the original post is just wrong. Sure there are interesting cars in Europe. There are many more as a percentage that are tiny 3 or 4 cylinder hatchbacks. No - these are not "hot hatches." A Ford Ka is not very sexy or interesting. Or a huge number of Vauxhall or Skoda cars.
We don't have as many small cars. And we have more big cars. But we have no shortage of high performance and interesting cars.
They don't have many Tesla in Europe. And of course Tesla is made here. Almost no Fiat cars, in Europe or US, are truly interesting.
They don't have V8 Mustangs in Europe. Nothing that sounds like that without spending $100K or more.
Why must American car culture be so bland and oversized, with ridiculous regulations? I've been to Europe, their air doesn't look all smoggy like LA.
At first I had the same thought process as you, but then I went to a Caribbean country that uses European cars (Guadeloupe - still owned by France). To be honest most of those cars were hideous and it made my Camry Se look amazing. The only thing I'm jealous about as far as Europe goes is their access to more exotic cars, but as far as regular street cars go I think European cars for the most part are hideous, especially french.

Really? Well, technically I drive a turbocharged econobox. You bring me a stock F350 that'll keep up with it and I'll buy you as many beers as you can drink in one sitting. It's only half the weight even. Of course if you can't, it'll be the other way around.
