So true when it comes to cars. I have a friend who bought a Lotus Espirit V8 a few years back. He'd always loved them growing up, thought they looked sexy, etc. Bought one without even driving one in an online auction (it wasn't like there were any local cars he could test drive since they were so rare.)

Got it shipped to him, drove it for about a week... hated it. His modern sports cars were so much better in every way. The dream of having the Lotus was far better than the reality of it.

I have a friend who owns about 40 cars. Indy pace cars, mostly, including some classics. He also has a few Chrysler muscle cars, and a bunch of other Vettes. We've done a couple cruises, with several of his friends taking driving his cars. Prior to that my experience in classic iron was very limited. Now that I've driven a dozen musclecar-era cars, I'm very disappointed in them. They're sloppy, crude, brutish, and not exciting at all. Back in the day I'm sure they were great, and I do understand the nostalgia. But from a performance and driving enjoyment point of view, they're pigs. I don't see a single thing they do better than modern "muscle".
