I plan on buying a new luxury sedan soon, but I know next to nothing about cars. I jus want insight on good models that I can afford. I can spend 40-50k and a 5-seated midsize luxury sedan. I currently drive an 010 Accord.

$45,000 will get you a Hyundai Genesis with every option you can think of and the best warranty in the industry.

Take a look at the new Infiniti Q50. The Audi A4, BMW 3 series and Mercedes C-class are all worth a look too.

Do you want front wheel, rear wheel or all wheel drive? All wheel drive is the best for driving in snow. If you like your current Accord, you might like the Acura TL, it can come in all wheel drive with a lot of technology options in your price range. The Acura RLX is another vehicle to consider.

You might be able to get a BMW 528i or an Audi A6 2.0 in your price range. These models only have 4 cylinder engines. The models with the 6 cylinder engines are above the stated price range.

The Cadillac CTS is a possibility. The Lexus GS350 is a great sports sedan and the Lexus ES350 has a softer luxurious ride.

These vehicles are all smaller than the OP's current Accord.

A little too tight in the back seat for 3 people. A Honda Accord would have more room in the back seat.

I believe that a 528's MSRP is bumping the 50K mark with no options. That would be tight.

CTS with a 4 cylinder engine starts at $45K. That would be a good option.

The Lexus ES350 IMO is a sweet ride. It's extremely plush, luxury and reliable. Plus the 3.5L is no slouch and is good on fuel..

I agree with the fact 50k will get you a loaded genesis and barebones any other model. A loaded Avalon would be pretty luxurious too

I would consider only 3 cars in this luxury segment:

1) E350 - to me the best value
2) A6
3) 528

Each of them is available with diesel engine, so I'd buy a slightly used one (to keep budget low)
