MINOCQUA, Wis. - Dozens of drivers made a mad rush for cheap gas after a station employee accidentally changed the price to 33 cents a gallon.

An employee closing Trig's Minocqua Shell for the night mistakenly entered the price of a gallon of gasoline as 32.9 cents instead of $3.299 on Monday night.

He left about 10 p.m., but drivers could still use their credit cards to buy gas.

I can remember the gas price wars in 1967 along NJ highways. On certain days you could get 3 gallons of high test for a less than a buck! I guess there's somethings about the sixties I can remember Here's some other 1967 prices and the 2007 price adjusted for inflation you may find amusing.

New House -- $14,425.00 / $86589.
Average Income -- $7,305.00 / $43850.
New Car -- $2,724.00 / $16531.
Average Rent -- $125.00 per month / $750.
Tuition to Harvard -- $1,855.00 per year / $11,135.
Movie Ticket -- $1.25 / $7.50
Postage Stamp -- 5¢ / .30
Gasoline .33 cents a gallon / $1.97
Milk -- $1.15 per gallon / $6.90
Bread -- 22¢ per loaf / $1.32
Eggs -- 38¢ per dozen / $2.28

I think this incident says a LOT about what we, as a nation, have become...sad. (And, NO, religious beliefs (or lack thereof) have nothing to do with it)
