Whatever you do get what the manufacturer specs. Lots of manufacturers spec semi metallic pads. Ceramic pads don't always work well with stock rotors. If you have aftermarket performance rotors slotted or drilled go with Hawk brand ceramic highly recommended.
Ford Explorer SUV here, had new NAPA ceramic pads and rotors installed at 63,000 miles and now at 95,000 I had them checked last week and the auto shop said there was a lot of life left in them, probably another 20-30,000 miles.
They sure perform much better than the originals.
Motorcraft is all we use for Fords at my shop. Also Mazda where possible.
Never had a noise or brake feel complaint yet. It helps that they come with a good set of replacement hardware, anti-squeal shims, etc.
