I totally agree.

"Speed has never killed anyone. Suddenly becoming stationary, that's what gets you."

Does anybody that dies at any speed 'deserve' it any more/less? In other words, if I died doing 45 in a 45 zone because I lost control of the vehicle, I still 'deserved' it.

But I see your point re: endangering others. No argument there.

145 mph on enclosed race track in the US an on regular highways in Europe. Didn't feel endangering.

187 on my Ducati; police cars don't have a chance, but you can't out run a Motorola and helicopter.

Btw. Open desert road spanning 5miles with friends making sure nobody was on the road. It would be a stupid thing to do on a city highway or road.

Boy, this thread is making me want to go test the "new" (2002) BMW I now drive! But I'm much more paranoid/safe in my older age, so it might have to wait until I'm in a place where that's either legal or VERY safe. I'd love to do a racing school experience, come to think of it.

130 mph in my 1967 Camaro in 1972 on I-15 near Victorville, CA. No ticket. Had no idea I was going that fast, it was so smooth.

LOL!

I've gotten up to 120 on the road, 140 on a track.
