I like big SUVs; Tahoes, Expeditions, Yukons, you get the picture. But I don't want to spend more than $25K. A quick search shows that for that price, the best I can get are 09 models with 75-100K miles. With gas at $4 a gallon you would think people would be running away from them. What this shows is that there are people who pass up a brand new 2015 Rav4/Rogue/ Escape for a 5 year old Tahoe with that kind of mileage on the clock.
Maybe cause a Rav4/Rouge/Escape doesn't fit the needs?
How much you gonna tow with one of those little pups?
When's the last time you've seen a suburban or a tahoe with a trailer behind it? IMO a lot of people buy these things for a "lifestyle" that never happens. it's kind of like the new treadmill in the basement.
I have no doubt some people need a large SUV for towing etc.
Lol yeah you would think that. But people think their cars are worth 2x what they really are. Most of those cars sit for a LLLLLLOOOOOOONNNNGGGG time before finding a buyer. And asking price is usually nowhere near actual sale price.

It's not just towing. I have never towed nor anticipate to have anything needing towing. What I do appreciate in a Tahoe is the interior space and general comfort. The compact SUVs are absolute straight jackets. Another discovery of mine is that at that age and mileage, most brands cost the same. Armada was nowhere as popular as the Tahoe but they cost the same when used. You'd think the less popular ones when new would sell for less in the used car market.
Fuel just isn't quite expensive enough--yet. Don't worry, it'll get there.
Usually anytime over 4.50 people start dumping. When it gets close to $5 people really want to unload. Lots of big SUVs sit unless they are just given away
Back in the early 1980s they did as the gas stations had a hard time getting gasoline , so the big cars disappeared , like the biggest car being produced then was the New Yorker , which looks like a mid sized car today ...... Some big GM cars disappeared in the last five years but new big GM cars are still many being made...........May be when the gas stations run dry again the big cars will be gone again , as like it just like smoking cigarette's , the cost of can go up but people will still buy cigarette's and gasoline as long as they can get it

Bring it on. I'd love to score a dirt-cheap preowned Cayenne Turbo or Range Rover Sport. My commute in the US is three miles each way, who cares about gas mileage.
