Since it's easy to spend someone elses money, I say keep it, get it running reliably go out and enjoy it on the trail while you figure out what else you want to do to it (lockers, winch etc).
Wow, thats going to be beautiful once its restored, I sure wish I knew how to work on cars & trucks. Id love to bring something like that to life. Especially the old stuff. Good luck! P.S. keep the orange, its a great color!
Since I know you already have a good rig, why not take this one and make it more of a military replica for parades and such. I'm not sure what your uncle originally used it for or if he was even in the military, but it could be a good way to remember him and his love for jeeps.
I spent the morning cleaning it out, and there's lot's of stage 1 rust, but very little stage 2. I found out it's a 49, but it has had the rearend swapped, because it's a Dana 44. I tried putting on the top, but I'm missing 4 brackets I may have to fab. The front floor is really solid.
I'm assuming you have other projects you're in the middle of and this one came out of nowhere. I would let this one sit in the alley until you have time to dedicate yourself to it. Meaning, don't do anything for now except leave it there and admire it.
