I have an Orange Beach Alabama (OBA) sticker on my rear window. Many many people have told me they thought it was an Obama sticker. Never had any problems over it though.
During the Bush years there was a car parked at work full of anti-war stickers AND an Obama sticker. Years after Obama got elected he still had the End This War sticker on. I think it is still there.
Why does what anyone else does to their car matter, it is their car not yours. Next thing you know someone wants to complain why people dress a certain way. If you have enough time to think about what other people do to their cars you have too much idle time on your hands.
I don't know why they put them on, but a car with a bunch of political stickers on it is always a sure sign of a dumbass driver. The kind who doesn't know what to do at a yield sign, can't figure out when it's safe to go at a 4 way stop, accelerates by taking their foot off the brake but doesn't touch the gas, doesn't know how to merge, and is generally oblivious about everything around them. The more stickers they have on the car the worse they are, out here it's a very reliable indicator.
I hate to admit your post reminded me of this as it pertains to me, but while I don't have bumper stickers, I bought a Rudolph "costume" for my car this year. It has a red fluffy nose you attach to the grill, and 2 antlers you attach to the windows. I can't wait until after Thanksgiving when I can put it on, lol.
