Our 2012 Fusion SEL (4cyl) has been problem free, and I think it was rated higher than, or at least comparable to the Camry in Consumer Reports. That said, I am a little lery of the first year of a new generation of cars, and 2013 was the first year for C-Max and the newest generation Fusion in the US.

Over the last 8 years or so I've watched Toyota try to engineer every penny of cost out of their lower and midrange vehicles to the point that the interiors reek of cheapness. Gone are the days that a 15 year old Toyota can still look like a 5 year old car. I've lost count of the number of Camrys I've rented with broken trunk floors because the carpet covered cardboard has gotton so thin.

No mater what if you have worked with batteries the problems are none are equal even made the same.One cell can ruin a pack and the type used is a fire hazard if the electronic circuit controlling charging fails. All engines and components have their own problems tho.
