Which one would you buy if you wanted a durable car
right now?

Neither. Don't know much about the Sonata and the jury is still out on long term reliability. The Altima has a noisy drivetrain due to its CVT transmission. Personally I'd go with an Accord.

I'd go with the Sonata in the 2.4 version (non turbo). I wouldn't touch an Altima with a cvt transmission.

Sonata without question. It's a much nicer car than the current Altima and the only other cars I'd really consider along with the Sonata are the latest Accord and Mazda6. The Altima needs a redesign and it wasn't particularly great when the current generation was released.

I would actually go with a Kia Optima but since it is basically the same car as the Sonata, my vote goes to the Sonata.

That's true, I forgot to mention the Optima as its the other option I would look at in addition to the Accord and Mazda6.

It's not the same car anymore. The Optima is based on the last gen Sonata.

Correct. The 2015 Sonata is more refined and we should see a new Optima at some point based on the 2015 Sonata.

The Accord is better than both and costs the same, I'd pick that.

I'd take the Altima over Sonata tough, I had one as a rental and it was decent.

I am actually tempted to try the 2015 camry! The new look is growing on me, and its cheaper than the accord. I like the way the Altima looks but I have heard too many negative things about the durability. The new sonata looks good though I just would wait a few more years to see how they hold up.
