I have never heard anyone talk about this as a maintenance item. Do you guys do a valve adjustment as routine maintenance? If so, at what mileage is this recommended? Mine is a 2004 Nissan Frontier XE 5 spd with 123,000 miles.
Depends on the engine. I have solid lifters on my diesel (pushrod) and adjust/check lash every 15-20k. I can usually feel/hear when they are about due. Virtually unnecessary on hydraulic systems, you set preload when you initially build and then let it ride.
Modern Honda V6 engines have adjustable valves. But a valve adjustment is a rare service. We have a Pilot and Ridgeline, both well over 100K miles. Never thought about it. I did the valve adjustment on my NSX. Took a good 7-8 hours. Kinda satisfying work. Except for the hour spend on one valve far out of spec with a stuck locknut.
